Illustrious 1-525 Engineering Speed Leveling Guide Cataclysm

December 9th, 2010

Welcome to the updated 1-525 Engineering Profession Speed Leveling Guide for WoW Cataclysm, updated for patch 4.0.3.

This is the Cataclysm Engineering power leveling guide from level 1-525 (Illustrious Grand Master). This guide is updated for 4.0.3 and features new recipes and mats for WoW Cataclysm. We are updating these guides daily so be sure to let us know if you see any mistakes or better recipes to use. As of now this is the best way to get to 525.

To level Engineering takes thousands of gold, I used WoW Schools Cataclysm Gold Guide in order to have enough gold, especially for Illustrious Grand Master.

Why we picked the recipes we did:

The recipes in this guide can all be bought from trainers. I stayed away from using recipes that were found from drops as this is a speed leveling guide. I also tried to pick the cheapest recipes to level with, however, at the highest levels it starts costing a ton of Gold to level Engineering.

Unlike other profs, a lot of recipes in Engineering start in the Yellow. This means that you have a one out of two chance of leveling when you create that recipe. That is why on the quantity needed it will say 10-20 or 20-40 needed.

How To Level Engineering

  1. Go to an Engineering trainer and learn engineering. Here is a List of Engineering Trainers.
  2. Learn all the Recipes that you can or that you need to learn from this guide for your level of engineering.
  3. Go to the AH or MINE for your materials that are listed in the guide. To speed level you need to buy from the Auction House.
  4. Once you get to the next level go to the next Engineering Trainer to Learn your Next Level!

Useful Cataclysm Engineering Info

Engineering is a fun profession which allows players to craft assorted gizmos and contraptions using a variety of parts and explosives! Engineers use reagents which are mostly crafted from minerals, in both ore and bar form, gathered or smelted by Mining.

Engineers can craft many devices which include not only equipable items such as trinkets, guns and goggles but also a variety of unique inventions and even explosives! Most engineer-created items can only be used with a required skill level, such as Jeeves, the robotic butler, or combat pets such as Arcanite Dragonling (which even fight for you)!

Engineers can also build two unique types of mounts – a rickety but awesome flying machine (Turbo-Charged Flying Machine Control) and a kickin’ motorcycle (Mekgineer’s Chopper or Mechano-Hog) which allows a passenger and has both horde and alliance versions!

Profession-specific Perk

Engineers can craft devices which can be affixed to various equipment slots to provide a variety of interesting effects. Since many Engineering-created items require certain skill levels to be able to use, almost anything could be considered a perk!

If you are having trouble leveling or need to level faster in WoW Cataclysm I highly suggest you check out Zygor’s Leveling Guide. It has the perfect leveling path that gets you to 85 faster and easier than any other way. No matter what level you are, you load the guide and it points with an arrow to the direction of each monster, quest giver, trainer etc. Its pretty crazy. It also has an in game box that tells you exactly what to do, like kill 5 boars, run west 10 miles, etc. If you dont have this in game add on guide, honestly, you are missing out. Fury 85 Warrior Cataclysm Power Leveling Build Guide

November 27th, 2010

This is the 1 to 85 Fury power leveling build guide for Warriors in WoW Cataclysm as of patch 4.0.6.  The fury tree is a great tree for leveling as you can take on many mobs at once or dps the sh** out of any 1 mob.  This has to be the most popular leveling build in Cataclysm right now.

In this guide I have included some gear suggestions, rotations, reforging ideas and a step by step leveling and information build.

Once you have your 31 points in the Fury tree you can literally put the rest of the points anywhere you want.  It will not hurt or change your character.  We have given our suggestions for these remaining points in this guide.

Notes

These are the best talents from 1-85 to use for leveling that go along with the best 1-85 leveling route guide: Zygor’s Leveling Guide

Gear

We want to be looking out for strength items of course.  Strength is your stat and must be maxed.

The gems to be looking for are as follows.

Red = 20 Str (Bold Cardinal Ruby)
Yellow = 10Str 10 Crit (Inscribed Ametrine)
Blue = 10Str 10 Hit (Etched Dreadstone)
Meta = 21 Critical Stike rating and 3% Increased Critical Strike Damage

Reforging

If you have any agility items, switch it for strength.

As of 4.0.3, Mastery is not worth it right now!   Critical and haste should be gotten instead.

Rotations

Single target dps rotation: Bloodthirst – Heroic Strike – Raging Blow.  We wont use slam until it becomes a skill that requires no rage.  We also want to keep battle-shout up.

If you want to AOE the rotation is:  Whirlwind and Cleave which stacks nicely with Meat Cleaver buff.

Affliction 85 Warlock Cataclysm Build Power Leveling Guide

November 27th, 2010

This is the 1-85 Affliction leveling build guide for Warlocks in WoW Cataclysm as of patch4.0.6.  Warlocks are pretty versatile levelers and can really level with any tree.  This talent build guide deals with the Affliction tree.  I have included glyphs, spell rotation, a link to the talent tree and each talent from level 1 through level 85.

Some useful information that you should know about Warlocks in Cataclysm.

- Hit cap is 17% now
- Shadow bolt rotation– Int >> Haste > Spellpower >> Mastery >> Crit
- Drain life rotation — Int > Mastery > Haste > Spellpower >>> Crit
- Shadowbolt filler is better then drain life because of shadow embrace.
- Spirit is worthless no gain from it whatsoever HEALER STAT!
- Use succy now
- You can summon guardians to help fight along side you during fight they don’t take away summoned demons so you can have Succy and doomguard up at same time.
- You won’t really need soul burn besides to re-summon pet unless you do drain life rotation
First off you might as well replace all of your 10int+10 spirit gems with 10 int +10 hit since spirit is completely Useless. Other then that it’s same basic rule with gemming that 20 int is better then a 5 sp socket bonus.

Spell Rotation

Here are two different sets of rotations. Use the one that fits your playstyle and character better.  You will get a feel as to which one works better for you.

Rotation 1:

  • Corruption > Bane of Agony > Unstable Affliction > Haunt > Shadowbolt x2
  • Drain Soul WHen Target is Below 25%
  • Shadowbolt is your filler spell.

Rotation 2:

  • Corruption
  • Haunt
  • Unstable Affliction
  • Bane of Agony(wait for it to drop off before reapplying)
  • Shadow Embrace (IE: Shadow bolt if its not at 3 stacks)
  • Drain Soul when mob is below 25% health.
  • Shadow Bolt or Drain Life

Cataclysm 1-85 Elemental Tree Shaman Power Leveling Build Guide

November 27th, 2010

This is the 1 through level 85 Elemental Shaman leveling build guide for WoW Cataclysm 4.0.6. You can level with any tree with a Shaman but I recommend the Elemental specs as the fastest leveling tree in Cataclysm.  The elemental Shaman is the ranged DPS tree.  Most of the times before a mob even gets to you they should be near death.

After level 80 the talents are really up to you.  I put some points into the enhancement tree but it really is up to you once you have hit your max talent in the Elemental tree.  You really cant go wrong.

Any intellect item will go along well with your Elemental shaman.  In Cataclysm, mastery is obtained on gear instead of talents.  Reforging is the way to get your master stats.  There are reforgerys in any major city.  You will want to reforge your stats to Mastery.

The glyphs are only recommendations.  I have left some open spots because its pretty open as far as what you want to use

The following is the Cataclysm Elemental Shaman Leveling Build Guide.  These are the best talents for leveling to go along with a good leveling path such as Zygor’s Leveling Guide.

The guide below takes you to 80.  A link to the talent tree of this guide and skills up to 85 can be found here.

Cataclysm 1-85 Druid Balance Spec Tree Leveling Build Guide

November 24th, 2010

A balance druid is a great way for leveling your druid in WoW Cataclysm to level 85.  This Balance Spec tree leveling build guide is updated for Cataclysm 4.0.6.

Stats

Intellect:
Intellect provides 1 spellpower and 0.006% to crit per point. With Mark of the Wild, Heart of the Wild, and Astral Leather Specialization, it provides 1.169 spellpower and 0.0070% crit (142 points per 1% crit, a bit under 1/3 of a crit rating).
Similarly, with these talents, one point of Intellect increases your maximum mana by 17.53, and your regen from Replenishment, Euphoria, and Innervate correspondingly.
These things together make Int the best stat for both DPS and mana.

Spellpower:
Intellect, without the talent bonuses, crit bonus, or mana gains. Basically a weaker form of Intellect that only appears on weapons, but is still good.

Hit rating/Spirit:
26.23 hit rating gives 1% to hit with spells. If you are under hit cap (see below), hit is a solid DPS stat. Beyond the cap, additional hit rating adds nothing and is wasted. With Balance of Power, 1 Spirit and 1 hit rating are identical for gear selection purposes.

Haste rating:
32.79 haste rating gives 1% spell haste. Again a solid DPS stat. Once you’re at the hit cap, haste will be your best secondary (i.e. non-Int) stat.

Critical strike rating:
45.9 crit rating gives 1% to crit. With Moonfury and a Chaotic Skyflare Diamond, crits with most of our our main spells do 2.09 times the damage of non crits. Because crit gives a lower rating conversion than haste, and we no longer have a meaningful haste cap, crit is substantially weaker than haste.

Mastery rating:
45.9 mastery rating adds 1.5% to our Eclipse bonus. Because only about half our spells are cast during Eclipse, this makes it even weaker than crit rating, and our worst secondary stat.

Reforging

Always pick an Intellect item over anything else.  For reforging purposes these are the stats you want in order of importance.

1) Spirit (technically better than Hit since it can occasionally give you mana).
2) Hit rating (until cap).
3) Haste rating.
4) Crit rating.
5) Mastery rating.

Gems

In general, gem [Brilliant Cardinal Ruby] in red sockets, [Purified Dreadstone] (if under the hit cap) in blue sockets, and [Reckless Ametrine] in yellow sockets. Exception: if the socket bonus is something other than spellpower or Int, ignore it and put Brilliant in all sockets. (At level 85: no color-matching–Brilliant in all items).

Use one [Nightmare Tear] in a blue or yellow socket, and make sure you also have at least one [Purified Dreadstone] somewhere to meet your meta requirement.

In your meta socket (only use hats with meta sockets), use [Chaotic Skyflare Diamond].

Skill Rotation

  • Start by applying Moonfire and Insect Swarm, and casting Starsurge. Whenever either DoT falls off the target, or Starsurge comes off cooldown, recast it.
  • Cast Starfire until until a Solar (Wrath) Eclipse procs, then switch to Wrath. Cast Wrath until a Lunar (Starfire) Eclipse procs, then switch back to Starfire.
  • Repeat this Eclipse cycle, always keeping your two DoT’s on the target and using Starsurge, Starfall and Force of Nature on cooldown.

Fungal Growth – Rank 2/2

Lunar Shower – Rank 3/3
When you cast Moonfire, you gain Lunar Shower. Lunar Shower increases the direct damage done by your Moonfire by 45%, and reduces the mana cost by 30%. This effect is refreshed and amplified when you move, stacking up to 3 times. Effect lasts for 3 sec.

Starfall – Rank 1/1
You summon a flurry of stars from the sky on all targets within 40 yards of the caster, each dealing 369 to 427 Arcane damage. Maximum 20 stars. Lasts 10 sec.

Shapeshifting into an animal form or mounting cancels the effect. Any effect which causes you to lose control of your character will suppress the starfall effect.

Feral Combat (5 Points)

Feral Swiftness – Rank 2/2
Increases your movement speed by 30% in Cat Form and increases your chance to dodge while in Cat Form or Bear Form by 4%.

Furor – Rank 3/3
Grants you a 100% chance to gain 10 Rage when you shapeshift into Bear Form, allows you to keep up to 100 of your Energy when you shapeshift into Cat Form, and increases your maximum mana by 15%.
